MALFORMATION GAMES
Hi! I’m Adrián Cortés. I’ve created this page to share some of my work with you. I understand your time is valuable, and I know you’re reviewing applications manually, so I’ll start with the music. If it catches your interest, feel free to learn more about me in the sections below. Thank you in advance for your time!

BEST-FITTING
Of course, the meaning of terms like «horror» and «beauty» is quite personal and full of subtle nuances, so I wasn’t entirely sure about what themes to show you. That’s why I’ ve created two playlists with more examples of music that, in my view, express horror or beauty. Feel free to give them a listen if you’re interested ^^

About me
I’m a music composer from Valencia, Spain. I’m passionate about adaptive audio and its immersive possibilities, as well as narratives. I consider myself a positive, highly energetic, communicative, and self-driven person who loves working in collaborative team environments.
My background is rooted in classical music. After completing both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in cello, along with a Master’s in Film Scoring and a Professional degree in piano, I have consistently focused on expanding my understanding of game audio, as well as enhancing my music composition and production skills. I pursued an Associate Degree’s in Sound for Audiovisuals, became proficient using a middleware, and embarked on a freelancing journey in the video game industry, where I’ve been working for the past few years.
In this time, I’ve had diverse experiences that have deepened my ability to express not only emotions but also stories throught my music, crafting unique soundscapes and truly using the power of the soundtrack to reach players, immerse them in the game world, and touch their hearts. Of course, this is something I continue to learn every day, and I like to think that every project I work on helps me grow as both a video game composer and a person.
I would love to have the opportunity to work with you, learn from your team, and contribute my best efforts to create high-quality music that enhances the player’s experience to the fullest.
How would I fit this project
First of all, I’d like to point out I really like your philosophy as a company. Not only by what I’ve read in your website, but also by the job offer itself. I find that many companies nowadays focus too little on the talent, potential, and attitude of the people they work with, so it’s refreshing to see how clearly you communicate that you’re looking for the right fit—regardless of whether someone has extensive professional experience or has shipped games before, for example. You don’t just say «We’d rather have a very passionate junior than a cynical veteran», you act in consequence and with honesty and that’s very valuable to me.
Regarding the project, I believe my musical style could be a strong match. While I started out composing traditional orchestral music, I’ve always challenged myself to evolve and push my boundaries. So specially in recent years, I’ve started to use more and more unconvetional sounds and textures in my music, not only with acoustic instruments (extended techniques and modifying the raw recordings in creative ways) but also by incorporating synths, layering, and recording unexpected sound sources to repurpose them muscally. Sadly, some music with unusual instrumentation can’t be shown yet, but for example in the following video you’ll hear me playing the cello, followed by a modified cello sound layered with a synth in the final 10 seconds. My approach is always to think outside the box, so I would work hard to develop a strong musical identity that fits your game prefectly.
I also have experience composing music for the horror genre, having worked on NOX: Chapter 1 (by The Buua Studio, you can find it on steam here) and Left (a psychological horror short film by Leandro Sosa, still awaiting release). Prior to these projects, I had composed horror-style music on my own, as I’m fascinated by how horror music can deeply affect the player. And I’m always eager to learn and adapt to new genres, so I’d be more than happy to take on any musical style you need for your project.
Additionally, my huge passion for video game music has made me analyze how the soundtrack works in many videogames. I’m very familiar with the basic of game audio (loop, one-shot, stingers, cutscenes, etc.) and game development. While I know I wouldn’t be required to implement my own music, I believe that being able to use a middleware or having basic programming knowledge are valuable assets for a game composer. By understanding how music will be integrated into the game, I can craft compositions that fit seamlessly and have the desired impact on players.
Lastly, I’ve just finished up a few smaller projects so I’m ready to start working ASAP! I could attend the mandatory meetings in the week no problem, my schedule is flexible as the needs of the projects may vary. Besides, I’m a freelancer here in Spain so I have no issues with sending and receiving invoices.
If you have any question or need anything else, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’d be more than happy to help!
